Nautilus, the award-winning online and print science publication with a literary voice, is embarking on an exciting new direction. With the pending acquisition of Nautilus by an investment group of super-fan subscribers, we are seeking a new Art Director to continue the magazine's distinctive style. The ideal candidate will be responsible for understanding our editorial voice and mirroring it with print and online visuals, overseeing production of both. ResponsibilitiesCollaborate directly with editors and writers to understand editorial objectives and how they can best be represented through art and designProvide existing deep connections within the illustration communityDevelop and present creative projects that support agreed upon goals and strategyCreate cross-channel visual communication strategies (digital, print, and motion)Stay up-to-date on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies QualificationsBachelor's degree or equivalent in visual communications5 years' of digital and print design or advertising experiencePrint magazine layout experienceKnowledge of social platforms (Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Pinterest, Snapchat, etc.)Breadth of style and design capability
